In honor of his birthday today, I would love to share with you one of my all time favorite authors. I think I have underlined more delicious sentences in his writing than any other.

Yes, the author of Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little, but also a brilliant essayist and co author of the best little treasure of a book on writing. I have a copy of Strunk and White's Elements of Style given to me by the lovely Mr. Paul Neal in Banner Elk as I packed my bags and headed off to teach theatre on Ocracoke Island. It was a favorite in graduate school, and is packed away waiting in Embree's box of high school resources.
